Tip #1: Check All Cashback Options
With Cashrewards alone boasting 2 million members, Australian's aren't new to the cashback game, but they're not the only platform around.
Shopback, the second most popular Australian cashback site claims 1.5 million local members, meaning there's a good 25% of those Cashrewards folks either unaware of the options out there or are happy getting the best cashbacks, just some of the time 🤭.
Newcomer TopCashback are taking the Aussie market by storm, coming out (as the name might suggest) on top in many (but not all) cases. With a pretty small member base so far, there are certainly a lot of Australian's out of the loop on this one.
...and that isn't even all of the cashback sites available to Australians.

Some stores will have both cashback offers (i.e. money in the proverbial hand), but will often also offer frequent flyer points via programs like Qantas Frequent Flyer & Velocity.
Frequent flyer points can be as rewarding (or sometimes more so) than cashback offers. Let me explain.
Most frequent flyer programs allow you to redeem them for things like toasters and gift cards, sure, you can do that, but it's not great in terms of a per point value. We at Rewardist prefer to spend our points on flights, you know, on planes (particularly in the pointy end 🥂). That's where the real value lies.

That being said, it's good to keep in mind what you personally value and what a point is worth to you.

Tip #3: Shop Around, Even Outside Cashback Sites
That's right, we're telling you to consider not even using a cashback site.
Sometimes you can find better deals with stores that aren't partners of cashback sites, so do your due diligence (and a little 1st grade math) and see if that new Samsung Galaxy S-something you've been eyeing off, would be cheaper elsewhere.
It might seem obvious, but it's not too hard to get caught up in the cashback funnel, expecially when they're a limited-time boosted offer.
Price Comparison
Our go-to tool for price comparison is probably a no-brainer: Google Shopping.
Just whack your product in the search bar.
Take a look, sure, but don't be too tempted by the sponsored products.
The real value of Google Shopping is in the regular results, click on the desired product and compare prices from tons of stores. Don't forget to check the price range to get an idea of what it typically goes for.
After that not-so-hard work, you should have an idea of what stores offer the product you're after and which ones have the best prices.
The next step is to head on over to Rewardist and start checking each store for a great cashback (or points!) offer.
Find the best offer that suits you and click through to the platform...buuut, hold up a sec, make sure the cashback makes your buy cheaper than any of the other prices you found on Google Shopping.
If it does, sweet 🥳! If not, head back to Google and jump on that low, low price.
